William Morris in Applique

This is a beautiful book: the photography is superb and the projects are so tempting.  My biggest decision?  Where to start.

Regarding Jane Eyre (edited by Susan Geason)

Pure serendipity: I c ame across this book and very much enjoyed reading the different views proposed by a range of authors about Jane Eyre.  Whether you are a Bronte fan, or simply one of the legions of fans who enjoy ‘Jane Eyre’ you may enjoy this delightful collection – if you are able to obtain it.

Regarding Jane Eyre

The Whole Truth by David Baldacci

This suspense novel filled a ‘rainy day’ space for me at a time when I really needed a fast moving story to distract me.   Perhaps not a great read, but certainly a potentially thought-provoking one.

I feel certain that this will be one of the best novels I have read in 2009.

Scarpetta by Patricia Cornwell

This is one of the most enjoyable of the novels to feature Kay Scarpetta in recent years.

Dancing at the River’s Edge by Alida Brill and Michael Lockshin

dancing-at-the-rivers-edge

This book is a collaborative work between Alida Brill and Michael Lockshin.  Alida’s life includes chronic illness, Michael’s life includes medical practice.  This book has much to offer those of us who live with chronic illness and, I believe, those who attempt to guide us either within professional partnerships or personal relationships.

Coronado by Dennis Lehane

I am new to reading Dennis Lehane, and while I largely enjoyed this collection of short stories and a play I so far prefer his novels.  These short stories fitted neatly into awkward blocks of time and, in their own way, were an enjoyable read.

My Reading Life by Bob Carr

my-reading-life

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.  I originally borrowed a copy but I decided that I really had to have my own copy so that I could make notes.  Some of Bob Carr’s suggestions are ones that I fully intend to adopt.  I’d recommend this to any bibliophile who wants to know how another bibliophile approaches the wonderful world of books.
